What is HDO plywood?
HDO plywood is a concrete-forming panel with a high-density resin-impregnated fibre overlay hot-pressed onto one or both faces. The closed overlay casts a glossy fair-face pour and resists abrasion across reuse cycles. Vinawood builds the APA-style ladder as HDO Basic, HDO Premium, and HDO Premium HD on a plantation-grown hardwood core with WBP phenolic bond (EN 636-3 / Class 3). What is the difference between HDO and phenolic film-faced plywood?
Both can be phenolic Class 3 when the core bond is PF, but the face build differs. HDO uses a dense fibre overlay for glossy architectural concrete; film-faced phenolic uses a kraft paper film measured in gsm. They are not interchangeable line for line on an RFQ. What is the difference between HDO and MDO plywood?
HDO carries a denser, harder resin overlay that casts a glossy concrete face and takes more abrasion across reuse cycles. MDO as a search term often points buyers to MatteFace for matte formwork, or to kraft-paper MDO for paint and signs. Keep HDO on the RFQ when the drawing wants gloss and high-density overlay, and write MatteFace when the finish is matte — soft bridge only, not a paint-grade sheet.
How many times can HDO plywood be reused for formwork?
Vinawood rates HDO Basic at up to 10 reuse cycles and HDO Premium / Premium HD at up to 20 under correct site practice. Those are maximums, not packing-list guarantees — thin release every pour, clean plastic scrapers at strip-out, sealed cuts, and flat covered storage decide whether you hit the card. Never plan programmes on 25, 30, or 50+ claims.
Is HDO plywood waterproof?
No. HDO is water-resistant, not waterproof. The resin overlay sheds mix water and resists abrasion, and Vinawood HDO is WBP phenolic-bonded (EN 636-3 / Class 3). Cut edges still wick moisture, so seal edges and store panels flat under cover between pours.
Where can I buy HDO plywood mill packs?
Buy mill packs factory-direct from Vinawood in Vietnam, or through appointed specialty distributors that stock HDO grades.
